PROMOTING AN ECO-FRIENDLY LIFESTYLE THROUGH WWF OFFICIAL STORE AND PANDA HOUSE
Jakarta, 9 June 2023 - Still on the occasion of World Environment Day which is commemorated on June 5 every year, WWF Official Store supported by WWF-Indonesia held an event called Ngonser (Ngopi Konservasi): Eco-Friendly Lifestyle Talk Show with Actress Aurelie Moeremans and Aditya Bayunanda, CEO of WWF-Indonesia.
Ngonser was also attended by WWF-Indonesia supporters and a number of media that was held at Panda House, Graha Simatupang, WWF Tower Lobby Area, South Jakarta. Panda House itself is a restaurant with an environmentally friendly concept that serves a variety of food and drinks with local raw materials that are characteristically Indonesian. In addition, Panda House also sells various environmentally friendly products from WWF-Indonesia assisted community groups such as honey, coffee, palm sugar, and so on. Currently, Panda House is managed by PT Panda Lestari.
In the Ngonser event, WWF Official Store seeks to invite WWF-Indonesia supporters and the public to continue to implement an environmentally friendly lifestyle such as reducing the use of single-use plastics, choosing local products, always carrying drinking bottles, and shopping bags when traveling, and using upcycled products.
A 2015 study conducted by WWF showed that, 60% of all plastics ever produced have reached the end of their life cycle and have been discarded. And right now, globally, less than 10% of plastic products are recycled.
Aurelie Moeremans, a millennial actress who shows her commitment to voicing environmental issues, especially plastic waste, through a number of her social media platforms, consistently promotes environmentally friendly practices and lifestyles in everyday life.
"For me, an environmentally friendly lifestyle is very important for us to practice in our daily lives. Because, this way, it is easy for us to do. It shouldn’t be hard to apply a sustainable way of life that does not hurt our environment," said Aurelie with her distinctive style.
On this occasion, WWF-Indonesia also appointed Aurelie Moeremans, who has firmly committed to actively participating in preserving the environment, to be named a WWF-Indonesia Member of Nature (MoNa) Figure.
Aditya Bayunanda, CEO of WWF-Indonesia said, "Young people play an important role in the sustainability of this earth, for example, like Aurelie who actively supports efforts to save the environment". Aditya Bayunanda also emphasized the importance of public participation to continue to play an active role in preserving the surrounding environment. The easiest is to apply an environmentally friendly lifestyle in everyday life. In addition, we can also support through nature conservation institutions to provide real support for the creation of a better environment in the future.
On this occasion, WWF-Indonesia also pinned Aurelie as a MoNa Figure, signifying that the commitment of public figures to play an active role in environmental conservation is an impactful tool for the conservation movement. This also spreads a positive spirit to millennials to be more active in taking real action for our nature.
