PANDA MOBILE COLLABORATION WITH AIESEC PRESIDENT UNIVERSITY
By: Darren Halim and Natalia Trita Agnika
Panda Mobile WWF-Indonesia again collaborates with the world youth organization, AIESEC. This time, the collaboration is with AIESEC President University in an environmental-themed project with AIESEC exchange program students. There are 12 students from various countries, including Brazil, Malaysia, Mexico, China, Hungary, Germany, and Australia.
Taking place on (14/01) at President University Cikarang, the team from Panda Mobile introduced WWF-Indonesia to the participants. With great interest, the young people listened to the explanation of biodiversity in Indonesia, both on land and in the oceans. One of the most heated and long-lasting discussions was about the illegal trade of protected animals that still often occurs in Indonesia. They were also very interested in the explanation of the #BeliYangBaik Campaign and products that already have environmentally friendly certifications, such as RSPO, FSC, ASC, and MSC.
They were able to absorb all the information provided and were very enthusiastic about the collaboration activities that will be carried out with Panda Mobile in the coming week. The students will be Panda Mobile's volunteers in several schools and deliver Panda Mobile's content to the students in their schools.
Therefore, in the next session, the team from Panda Mobile explained about the various contents owned by Panda Mobile trucks in delivering conservation messages to school children. This was done so that they can deliver conservation messages to school children when they volunteer at some upcoming events.
One of the contents taught to the students was making bags from old newspapers. The activity is an example of the 3Rs (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle) practice. They were also introduced to Panda Mobile's signature cricket game. The squares in this game are infographics about protected animals. Through this game, school students can easily absorb information quickly and simply about the animals that are the focus of WWF-Indonesia's work.
At the end of the meeting, the exchange program students were divided into 4 groups. They were tasked with making some preparations for the presentation they would do in front of the school students at the upcoming Panda Mobile. They made it based on the material that had been delivered by the Panda Mobile team. Several questions arose, such as how to distinguish presentations for elementary school students and high school students and what images and videos they should add to make the presentation more interesting. The Panda Mobile team hopes that these students will be able to convey conservation messages well and become agents of change for environmental sustainability, starting from themselves.
