INDONESIA RANKS TOP FIVE IN WWQ
Jakarta, 28 November 2019 - Sekolah Alam Indonesia (SAI) at the junior high level represented by Naima Bibianasyifa (grade 8) and Fitri Nur Aulia (grade 9) won the fourth place position (1st runner-up) in order to represent Indonesia in the Wild Wisdom Quiz 2019 (WWQ 2019) competition organized by WWF-India on November 18-22 in New Delhi, India. This is the first participation for Indonesia in the international WWQ 2019 competition. Previously, SAI won the national level WWQ 2019 held by WWF-Indonesia on November 6, 2019 in Jakarta.
In Indonesia, we are familiar with the Cerdas Cermat or Cerdas Cepat program. WWQ is the only global quiz program that raises the theme of the environment and wildlife in nature. What's special about WWQ is that it encourages participants to delve into the amazing mysteries of nature, thus increasing their curiosity and love for the wild.
The annual WWQ encourages students to learn more about the intricacies of our planet and its wonders through a fun methodology based on the theme 'Exploring Our Planet' inspired by the Netflix and Silverback Films nature documentary series narrated by Sir David Attenborough titled 'Our Planet'.
"The students will be the agents of change and spearhead the conservation journey for years to come. In the hands of the younger generation, I firmly believe that our planet is in good hands, and hope that this WWQ will be a source of inspiration and pride for young people in the future. We therefore urge the participating students and teachers to do whatever they can to conserve nature," said WWF India's Director of Environmental Education, Radhika Suri.
In the 2019 International WWQ, the top five places were Colombia, United Kingdom, Nepal, Indonesia, and India out of a total of seven participating countries.
