Currently, the condition of the earth is apprehensive. We can see how bad and dirty the world is. In fact, we will also find various corners of the earth that are damaged. Meanwhile, some living things that live on earth are no less sad. Many animals are sick and endangered.
Seeing this situation, humans as one of the inhabitants of the earth should pay attention to the natural surroundings. For this reason, Panda Mobile invites all levels of society to take real action to preserve the earth. One of the efforts made by Panda Mobile is to educate the younger generation about the environment and animals.
This time, the Panda Mobile team visited a rusunawa (a flat for rent) located in Cakung, East Jakarta last Saturday (02/02). Participants in the Panda Mobile activity at the flat are children aged between 5-12 years. The event started with an introduction to Panda Mobile WWF-Indonesia team and stories about the impact of littering. The young participants looked enthusiastic in following the activity which started in this exciting way.
After listening to the story, participants were invited to board the Panda Mobile truck to watch the film Quartet at the Crossroads which tells the story of protected animals. Then the participants were presented with the film Guardians of Water which tells the story of Jelma, one of the children from the Rimbang Baling area who expressed hopes and efforts for water preservation. The Panda Mobile team chose these films with the hope that the children in the flats could protect and preserve the water, especially the river around where they live.
To add to the excitement, the Panda Mobile team also held orangutan engklek games activities. In this game, children can get to know the characteristics of the orangutan, an umbrella animal that plays an important role in maintaining the forest, but is in a very poor condition. “Orangutans are one of the endangered animals. Their homes are damaged due to illegal logging, and also poaching.” said Kiki, a volunteer Panda Mobile. Through this game, the Panda Mobile team conveys a message to the children in Rusunawa to take part in giving special attention to endangered animals.
It didn't stop there, the Panda Mobile team also invited the Rusunawa children to get to know the water laboratory. In this activity, participants will learn the types of water, as well as the characteristics of dirty and clean water. The Panda Mobile team specifically showed the appearance of dirty water containing harmful ingredients such as bacteria, moss and chemicals. After seeing the dirty water, the participants reacted by showing their concern. They imagine the dangers of dirty water if consumed by humans and animals.
For this reason, the Panda Mobile team invites the children in the flats to always preserve clean water as the main daily need for living things. If there is no more clean water on this earth, the health and hygiene quality of humans and animals on earth will decrease. In the end, this will have an impact on the survival of humans and animals.
The last activity carried out by the Panda Mobile team with the apartment children was to color the six umbrella animals. The participants still looked happy and enthusiastic about following the series of activities until the closing of the event. It is the happiness of the young generation who are following the efforts to conserve the earth that is the driving force behind volunteersand the Panda Mobile team to continue educating all levels of society about environmental sustainability.
