After successfully shooting a video clip for his latest single 'Gajah' in the forest area of Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, Lampung, singer Muhammad Tulus Rusydi, known as Tulus, will conduct a roadshow titled "Tulus On Air Program on Radio". Tulus is scheduled to stop by and interact directly with loyal Radio Oz listeners in Jakarta, Bandung, Bali and Aceh every weekend from July to December. During the program launch event at a cafe in Kemang, Jakarta, last week, the man born in Bukittinggi 26 years ago said he would share his experiences and activities in the field of nature conservation in the four cities.
Met on a separate occasion, Tulus expressed his readiness to become a spokesperson for the Sumatran Elephant conservation campaign. Especially after he went through an unforgettable experience in TNBBS with Elephant Patrol members. According to him, people must respect the existence of Sumatran elephants and actively participate in elephant protection efforts. "The easy way is by helping and disseminating information about elephant conservation efforts," he said.
Sumatran elephants (Elephas maximus sumatrensis) live in the lowlands, especially in locations close to rivers. Every day it consumes 200 kilograms of food. The food will leave seeds that will be dispersed in the elephant's wanderings that can reach a distance of 15 kilometers each day. Elephants are also known as "Umbrella Animals"; their presence in a location means there are sufficient resources to support other animals, indicating a healthy ecosystem. Unfortunately, only 2,400 to 2,800 individual Sumatran elephants remain in the wild today. Their lives are threatened by poaching, deforestation and habitat loss, as well as conflicts with humans.
WWF-Indonesia has a donation program for Sumatran Elephant conservation, "Elephant Warrior". The program is supported by celebrity Nadya Hutagalung who is also active in the global 'Earth Hour' and 'Let Elephants Be Elephants' campaigns.
