Panda Mobile received another invitation from Global Jaya School in Bintaro, South Tangerang on Friday (9/2). On this occasion, the Panda Mobile team chose the theme "Save Endangered Animal" which introduced children to umbrella animals.
The first grade students of Global Jaya School welcomed the Panda Mobile team with great enthusiasm. After the volunteers introduced themselves, they told them about the agenda of the activities to be carried out. "Today we want to watch videos, play games, and color. Who wants to?" asked one of Panda Mobile's volunteers.
They were then grouped by class and directed to the activities that had been arranged in turn. During the movie-watching session, awe and curiosity were evident on their innocent faces. "How do you take videos of tigers and other animals?" asked one of the children while watching a movie about wildlife in their habitat.
"The WWF-Indonesia team uses a camera trap that has a sensor and is mounted on a tree. So, the camera will automatically take pictures and record when an animal happens to come or pass by," replied Sani Firmansyah, WWF-Indonesia's Supporter Center Officer to the amazement of the children.
After watching the movie, Global Jaya School students played cranklek with the turtle theme. Reggie, one of Panda Mobile's volunteers, explained how to play and provided information about sea turtles, from their physical shape, where they live, and what they eat. After that, they colored the picture of the umbrella animal.
While the children were coloring, Wina, one of Panda Mobile's volunteers explained about umbrella animals and invited the children to protect the animals starting with small things, such as reducing the use of plastic, tissue, and saving water.
At the end of the activity, students who could answer questions from the Panda Mobile volunteers received mementos. They were also invited to share what they learned during the day's activities. "I want to work at WWF when I grow up!" shouted Thomas, a grade 1 student of SD Global Jaya. All students were motivated to take part in protecting the environment, starting from themselves by doing simple things.
