PANDA MOBILE AT THE "HANDMADE WORLD" EVENT
By: Muhammad Azhari Lubis (Volunteer Panda Mobile)
On Wednesday (11/05), Panda Mobile WWF-Indonesia received a special invitation from Global TV to attend the "Dunia Hand Made" program. This event is a program that invites children to make their own toys from unused items. WWF-Indonesia's collaboration with Global TV on this occasion was carried out to continue to increase public awareness of the importance of protecting the surrounding environment starting from small things, namely recycling unused items into interesting items. Panda Mobile, WWF-Indonesia's environmental education truck, often uses recycling activities (recycle), as a means to educate children about waste problems.
In the shooting that took place at the Global TV Building, the rear cabin of the Panda Mobile truck was transformed into a storytelling stage. Before the story began, the children were introduced to WWF-Indonesia. Then, Kak Ryan, a storyteller from Panda Mobile told a story about a child who littered and was haunted by a garbage monster. When the story was in progress, suddenly Kak Made Arya and Kak Made Wira, the hosts of "Dunia Handamade" came over to Kak Ryan and the children. They invited the children to protect the environment starting from small things, namely throwing garbage in its place. Not limited to that, Kak Made then invited the children to join him in transforming used items into interesting toys.< br />
In the next activity, Kak Made taught the children to make toy cars from used plastic bottles, ice cream sticks, bottle caps, and skewers.
After finishing making the toy cars, Kak Made Arya and Kak Made Wira invited the children to the courtyard of the Global TV building to play and race the toy cars that had been made together. The children looked very happy playing the toy car competition with Kak Made Arya, Kak Made Wira, and the volunteers Panda Mobile.
This activity is very interesting and fun because it teaches children to think creatively in turning used items around them into interesting items, such as making their own toys. In addition, cohesiveness and intimacy among children can be further established when playing with self-made toys with friends. Last but not least, this activity invites children to love the environment around them more and not to litter.< br />
