ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION INTEGRATED CURRICULUM FOR JAYAPURA CITY APPROVED

Jayapura, October 07, 2010 - Located in the meeting room of the Regional Secretary of Jayapura City, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between WWF-Indonesia Sahul Region and Jayapura City Education and Teaching Office.  The MoU was signed by the Head of the Jayapura City Education and Teaching Office, Drs. CH. Anwar Alma'mun, MM and Director of WWF-Indonesia Sahul Region Drs. Benja V Mambai, M.Si.
This cooperation agreement regulates the preparation of an integrated curriculum of subjects intended for elementary schools in Jayapura City, with the aim of increasing early understanding and awareness of environmental conservation through environmental education integrated with science subjects starting from grade 1 (one) to grade 6 (six) elementary schools in Jayapura City.
 This MoU will also regulate the implementation of the resulting integrated environmental education curriculum in science subjects, for 2 (two) semesters in 10 (ten) limited implementing schools, monitoring and evaluation, publication of the resulting environmental education guide and Jayapura City Education Office policies that regulate so that the resulting environmental education curriculum can be used by all elementary schools in Jayapura city.
This MoU will be valid for three years with the final target of implementing integrated environmental education in science subjects starting from grade 1 (one) to grade 6 (six) elementary schools in Jayapura City.
