WWF PANDA MOBILE LAUNCHED, CARRYING THEME OF SUMATRAN TIGER CONSERVATION

Jakarta (31/01)-Coinciding with Supporter Gathering event called “Do Better for Earth” on Sunday, 31 January 2010, WWF-Indonesia launched education mobile “WWF Panda Mobile” in The Plaza Semanggi, Jakarta. Tiger conservation became the first theme carried by the WWF Panda Mobile since The Year of Tiger campaign will globally launched within WWF network on 14 February.
This six wheel-truck was a donation from Hino Motor Sales Indonesia, Ltd. and Hino Motors Manufaturing Indonesia, Ltd. Director of Hino Motor Sales Indonesia (HMSI) Satoshi Suzuki and Director of Hino Motors Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) Jayashree Ralhan symbolically handed over Hino Dutro truck to Chairman of WWF-Indonesia Executive Board Kemal Stamboel.
In her keynote speech, Ralhan said, “Environmental issue has become HINO Indonesia Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) concern. Basicly, we focus on giving contribution for Indonesian people through education, health and environment, particularly for the poor people. Through this donation, Hino expect that it will be able to enhance education for children and for the public as well regarding environmental conservation.”
Kemal hailed Hino’s donation in the form of a multi-purpose truck. Hino’s commitment to supporting conservation practice was expected to encourage other corporations and industry actors do similar action. Kemal believed that support from industry sectors, individuals, as well as the government would give WWF extra energy practicing its conservation effort.
To meet the campaign theme, a big sticker of tiger with a provocative slogan were covered the truck. “Soon this truck could carry all of the tigers since they are rapidly disappearing…Save the Sumatran Tiger and their home, ” the slogan said. It represents the importance of tiger conservation effort which will be the focus of WWF global Network campaign for the next six months.
“We will use this truck for campaign activities and education purpose by designing mobile library. Moreover it can be used for fundraising activities. It has to be beneficial for the public. WWF Panda Mobile aims at increasing public awareness and knowledge regarding environmental issues,” said WWF-Indonesia Marketing and Communication Director Devy W. A. Suradji.
To support its education purpose as mobile library, WWF Panda Mobile provides hundreds of environmental books and multimedia facilities such as television and DVD player. The truck has side panels that can fold out to form a mini stage. Completed by LCD projector screen, the portable stage can be used to hold musical performance, talkshow, mini cinema or other environmental awareness show.
