WWF-INDONESIA HONORARY SUPPORTERS INVOLVED IN WONDER EYES 2009

Lampung & Riau (31/10)-Bukit Barisan Selatan hosted Wonder Eyes Project started from Thursday (24/10) to Friday (30/10). Two WWF-Indonesia Honorary Supporters, Nugie and Davina were involved in this international photography event. In BBS, Nugie, Davina, and WWF-Indonesia team spent their night at Rhino Camp, West Lampung.
Wonder Eyes visited Elementary School 3 Sedayu (SDN 3 Sedayu) and Junior High School Semaka. Before the Wonder Eyes participants threw their selves into the field (Bukit Barisan Selatan NP), Hikaru Nagatake, Japanese photojournalist who is also the Wonder Eyes initiator gave short photography training to them. Davina also gave assistance to the training.
Moreover, Davina and Nugie had chance to visit flying squad camp The coffee production area of Kuyungarang in Sedayu village was also one of agenda of their visit.
Kuyung arang coffee is produced by putting conservation principles at the front. It is one of WWF-Indonesia Green & Fair Products (Community Empowerment unit program focusing at sustainable natural resources management as an effort aiming at promoting biodiversities and ensuring better life for the community living near conservation area).
2nd Destination: Tesso Nilo National Park
Last location visited was Tesso Nilo NP, Pekanbaru, Riau. For two days, starting from Thursday (29/10) to Friday (30/10), students of Junior High School I Ukui, Lubuk Lembang and some students from Senior High Schools in Pekanbaru participated in Wonder Eyes with WWF-Indonesia and Honorray Supporters Nugie and Davina. In tesso Nilo the WWF group spent their night at elephant flying squad camp.
Besides assisting Hikaru Nagatake conducting photography training and photo session in the field, Nugie and Davina also learned install camera traps (hidden camera installed in specific locations to capture and monitor the existance of endangered species).
The interesting part was when Nugie, Davina, WWF Jakarta and Wonder Eyes team learned make elephant brownies; elephant food made of ""dedak"" (mixture of rice and bran) and corn. Then they patrolled around Tesso Nilo Park together with flying squad team.
Finally they ended their exploration by visiting the location of honey distillation process-extracted from sialang tree (This is also one of WWF community empowerment program conducted near Tesso Nilo NP).
