Timika, September 17, 2010 - The draft zoning of Lorentz National Park was prepared and agreed upon on March 3-4, 2010 in Jayapura by the Lorentz National Park Management Collaboration Team and interested parties. As a follow-up to the agreement, a number of public discussions were held to socialize the draft zoning to stakeholders and all related parties including district governments whose areas are included in the national park area.

The first socialization (public discussion) of the Lorentz National Park Zoning Plan was conducted in Timika on September 2, 2010, targeting the five nearest district governments of Mimika, Asmat, Paniai, Puncak Jaya and Intan Jaya, as well as interested parties in the region.

Subsequently, another socialization was conducted on 16 September 2010 in Wamena covering five districts namely Jayawijaya, Yahukimo, Nduga, Lani Jaya, and Puncak.
