LEARNING TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT WITH BUMI PANDA

Providing an understanding of environmental damage to children requires appropriate methods and ways of delivery. Bumi Panda uses the technique of delivering messages about environmental damage through movie media. In collaboration with Panda Mobile, which was in Bandung at the end of October 2015, Bumi Panda visited SDT Krida Nusantara, Bandung.
The team from Bumi Panda invited the students to watch a movie about activities that damage the earth. By watching the movie, the children were expected to know what things they do in their daily lives that can cause environmental damage. They also got information about ways to protect the environment.
After watching the movie, students from other classes tried various games such as cricket, snakes and ladders, and did 3R activities (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The cricket game had orangutans and turtles as its theme. During the game, students were invited to discuss the current condition and life of orangutans and turtles in nature. Grade 6 students are invited to discuss so that they have a broader understanding of animals and the environment.
The 3R activity introduced by Bumi Panda Team to the students of SDT Krida Nusantara, Bandung was to make a photo frame from used cardboard. By utilizing used items around the school, we can reduce waste generation and thus make our environment better," explained Kak Arsellia, a volunteer of Bumi Panda.
Through this activity carried out with Bumi Panda WWF-Indonesia, the school has hopes for its students. "Hopefully all students of SDT Krida Nusantara can be more concerned about the environment around them and can also support various conservation efforts carried out by WWF-Indonesia," said Muhammad Yadi, Principal of SDT Krida Nusantara, Bandung.
