HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ATTENDED "OCEAN WORLD" SCREENING WITH WWF-INDONESIA

Jakarta (05/10)-Hundreds of people arrived in great numbers to attend Ocean World 3D Special Screening in Blitzmegaplex, Grand Indonesia, Jakarta, Thursday (05/10). They were WWF-Indonesia team (Board of Trustee and Board of Directors, staff, supporters, and volunteers), corporate partners, mass media, and the inhabitants of the capital in the amount of over 300 hundreds.
This documentary film directed by Jean Jacques Mantello is an edutainment product in collaboration with The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and WWF. The screening was opened by WWF-Indonesia Director of Climate and Energy Program Fitrian Ardiansyah and a member of Board of WWF-Indonesia Executive Board Rizal Malik.
""I'm sure this film can be our inspiration....I'm concern about our ocean with its small islands. They are susceptible to climate change...After watching this, i expect we all can start to do something together, take part actively saving coral reef and protecting marine ecosystem, consume seafood wisely, and many more things to do,"" said Fitrian.
""Oceans 3D"" takes viewers on a voyage through, among others, Californian kelp forests, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and Roca Partida Island off the coast of Mexico, which is home to thousands of sharks.
Guided by a sea turtle, viewers will witness some of the most unforgettable scenes of life beneath the waves ever captured: the manta ray’s enchanting ballet, the noble procession of hammerhead sharks; the lionfish’s relentless hunt; dolphins playing algae-soccer; the astonishing beauty of the Spanish dancer sea slug and leafy sea dragon; and an exceptional encounter with the largest cetaceans on the planet.
Besides inspiring public to protect its fragile ecosystem and inhabitants through Ocean World 3D, WWF also showed documentation of Earth Hour 2009, the work of Ahmad Moentaba. The launching of ""Earth Hour 2009"" short film was an expression of WWF's appreciation for a thoughtful act and contribution from all parties supporting global campaign Earth Hour.
""I express my deepest thanks for all your support on Earth Hour, 28 March 2009. We gained support from 13 corporations, 11 mass media, and there were 100 news releases regarding Earth Hour. From facebook, there were 300,000 supporters declaring their commitment to switching their lights off. I expect next year, we will be able to reach 1 million supporters, 2 millions, or even 3 millions,"" Rizal Malik concluded his specch.
The award of ""Journalists Fellowship"" closed the series of the event ""Ocean World Special Screening."" The recipients were journalists who were considered as active environmental journalists. Those two journalists were Adianto P. Simamora from Jakarta Post newspaper and Untung Widyanto from Tempo magazine. They will be sent to Copenhagen for covering the 15th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)this December.
