A family movie titled PARA PEMBURU GAJAH presented by Falcon Pictures will air during the children's school vacation. The movie, directed by Hermawan Rianto, takes the theme of the adventures of 5 friends who try to save a Sumatran elephant from the hands of poachers.
"This movie is expected to arouse the spirit of the community to support the campaign to save Sumatran elephants that are almost extinct," said Frederica, Producer of Falcon Pictures, when met at a press conference at the Elephant Palace, Ragunan Zoo, Thursday (5/6).
"The condition of the elephant population in Indonesia is now critical. Indeed, this movie is very idealistic, but if we don't start from now or wait for each other, the movie will never exist. We hope that people who watch it can see the current condition of elephants in Indonesia," Frederica continued.
This adventure film, which is colored by tense chase action, tells the story of an elephant calf, which is being hunted for smuggling. This incident apparently came to the attention of 5 children who were camping at the time. Tensions rise when the elephant poachers target the five children. In the lush forest, they had to escape. In fact, they hid the elephant calf in a freight train. It's not just chaos that this movie presents, cohesiveness and solidarity are also part of the story.
"WWF Indonesia welcomes the presence of this movie and appreciates Falcon Pictures for presenting this movie to the public. Besides being entertaining, this movie is also part of the education to the public, especially children about the importance of saving protected animals. Currently, many protected animals, such as elephants, are hunted for their ivory," said Nyoman Iswarayoga, Director of Communication and Advocacy of WWF-Indonesia.
Every movie ticket sale from all over Indonesia that Falcon Pictures receives will be donated to WWF-Indonesia.
The movie was shot on location in Way Kambas and Jabodetabek. To ensure the health and safety of the elephants and the cast, the elephants used in the movie were always under the supervision of experienced veterinarians and handlers, and for dangerous scenes, elephant replicas/dolls were used.
PARA PEMBURU GAJAH is starring Valerie Thomas, Kesha Ratuliu, Endi, Aikal, Gusti, Julian Kunto, Marsya Sitakara Adiyuta, Yama Carlos and Shara Virrisya. The official soundtrack of the movie, 'Untuk Selamanya', is sung by Bondan Prakoso.
PARA PEMBURU GAJAH will be released on June 26, 2014 in theaters across Indonesia.
