A DONATION WALLET FOR WASIOR FLASH FLOODING OPENED
Jakarta (11/10)-The flash flood that swept through Wasior, Wondama Bay, West Papua, on Tuesday (04/10) encouraged three conservation organizations which have been working in the Papua’s birdshead; The Nature Conservancy (TNC), The Conservation International (CI), and WWF initiate a “donation wallet” for Wasior flood victims.
That humanitarian action is an expression of concern from those three conservation organizations toward the flood disaster which completely crushed Wasior. Through Wasior donation wallet, public may give their donation fund to account number 154–00–0000263-8, Bank Mandiri Kantor Cabang Jayapura Ahmad Yani, on behalf of WWF Kantor Koordinasi Region Sahul.
The Wasior flash flood occurred in Sunday and Monday (Oct 3 and 4) had repotedly killed 147 people, and left 123 others missing. Offices, houses, schools and other public facilities were damaged by water, rocks and logs.
The deadly disaster has also caused huge damage to WWF-Indonesia office in Wasior. The flood washed away some stuffs and many infrastructures were damaged. All WWF’s staff ion Wasior and their families were evacuated to Manokwari.
