BUILDING SOCIOPRENEURSHIP TO REALIZE SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES

Social and environmental issues continue to emerge in Indonesia. Sustainability is one of the many issues that need to be considered. Environmental sustainability is essential in sustaining human life. One of Seafood Savers' contributions in tackling this issue is to realize sustainable fisheries.
The increasing public attention to social and environmental issues has provoked various forms of efforts to get involved in realizing a sustainable life. Apart from campaigns, there are various other efforts to achieve this mission, one of which is through Sociopreneurship or efforts to improve social and environmental conditions through an entrepreneurial approach.
Social Champion at AJWSB
The trend of socialopreneurship is one of the cornerstones of the Anugrah Jawara Wirausaha Sosial Bandung (AJWSB) competition. This competition is held to provide appreciation, motivation and empowerment for Social Jawara (social warriors) who have a positive social impact on society.
Basically, AJWSB is divided into three categories of activities, namely the idea & startup category, the growth category, and the established category. One of the members of Seafood Savers, PT Samudera Eco Anugrah (SEA) with the brand name Fish 'n Blues, managed to get the first place title at the prestigious AJWSB event in the start up category. After going through quite a long stage, the award obtained by the brand with the slogan eco-friendly, fresh, and healthy is expected to help the development of its eco-friendly seafood products.
Ranggi Fajar Muharam, as the President Director of PT SEA expressed his gratitude because the struggle in realizing fisheries in Indonesia has received appreciation in Bandung. Ranggi also hopes that the impact of this achievement in the future can increase local market demand for environmentally friendly seafood products.
"The development and distribution of environmentally friendly fishery products has not yet reached West Java. This is a very big opportunity, considering the potential fishery resources and market potential are good. If the management and practices are also good, in the sense of being environmentally friendly, responsible and sustainable, this will bring benefits to Fish 'n Blues and fishermen in the future. We want to provide guidance and cooperation to fishermen groups on the coast of West Java," explained Ranggi after receiving the AWJSB 2015 award.
Sociopreneurship is not only a contribution by businesses in making a positive impact on society and the environment, but also a forum for consumers to participate in realizing sustainable industries. This achievement is expected to spur other seafood business players to continue trying to increase consumer awareness of the importance of environmentally friendly seafood.
