BIOGAS INSTEAD OF LPG
Liputan6.com, Tegal: For residents of Pesalakan Adiwerna Village, Tegal, Central Java, the need for gas energy is not a problem. This is because the residents have succeeded in making alternative biogas energy from tofu waste, which is abundant in this village.
Biogas from tofu waste from 400 tofu producers is processed through a water and waste treatment plant or ipal. Furthermore, the gas is channeled to residents' homes through pipes for various purposes, such as cooking and lighting. According to residents, this biogas energy can be used non-stop and will not run out for a long time.
This alternative energy has actually been developed since one year ago. However, at that time residents were reluctant to use it on the grounds that it was less practical. Since gas explosions often occur, residents have switched to biogas energy.
Residents who utilize this alternative energy are charged a fee of Rp 15 thousand per month. The fee is used for ipal maintenance and pipe installation. The local government is now actively encouraging residents to utilize this energy because it is considered safer and cheaper.(ADO)
