WWF'S FLYING SQUAD CELEBRATES NEW MEMBER
Lisa, a member of WWF's elephant patrol unit in Tesso Nilo, Riau- or known as the Flying Squad - recently gave birth to a male calf. The calf was born at dawn on Monday ,31 January 2010 on the fringes of Sumatra’s Tesso Nilo NP, 3 km away from the Squad's camp.
At midday, the baby elephant was mobilized slowly to walk toward the Flying Squad camp. At four in the afternoon, these elephants arrived in the camp. These are some photos taken at 6 o’clock in the afternoon. Both the mother and the newborn elephant are in a good condition.
Now, there are seven elephants in Flying Squad team. Four of them are adult elephants, and the rest are baby elephants. The newborn male elephant whom Lisa gave birth to on Monday, and two more are Tesso and Nella.
