Bandung (08/08)- Thousands of symbolic supports for conservation in the form of thumbprints have been successfully collected in an environmentally friendly event called Jambore Petualang Indonesia (JPI)/The Jamboree of Indonesian Adventurers 2009 held from Saturday (07/08) to Sunday (08/08) in Rancaupas Camping Ground, Ciwidey, West Java.
There were 800 Jamboree participants giving their thumbprints in Monumen Tanah Airku (MTA) panels initiated by WWF-Indonesia. They were adventurers and nature lovers from all over Indoensia. One man one tree ambassadors, Dody Johanjaya and Ulung Putri (Producer and host of popular television program called ""Jejak Petualang"") also participated by giving thumbprints in the historical monument. Every philanthropist gave 2 thumbprints. Right thumb is a symbol of “trees planting” action and left thumb represents marine conservation.
Series of acitivities in Jambore Petualang Indonesia (JPI) 2009 closely linking to environment have urged WWF-Indonesia to participate in the event as well as socialize nature conservation practice.
Besides distributing the Monumen Tanah Airku panels which are going to be displayed on August 17, WWF also organized RENEWS workshop (making recycled bags made of used newspapers). RENEWS is a campaign of refusing plastic bags by promoting recycled bags or environmentally-friendly bags. Moreover, WWF opened merchandise stand in Global Development Village section with other environmental organizations.
