SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD FESTIVAL: "NO ORDINARY FISH MARKET"
Seafood is a favorite food of most people as it is believed to be rich in nutrients. However, most people - from producers to consumers - do not know which types of seafood need to be preserved and which ones can be consumed freely.
In 2011, WWF-Indonesia launched the "Wise Choosing Seafood" campaign, aimed at consumers so that they can eat their favorite seafood without depleting its population. WWF-Indonesia promotes sustainable seafood products certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), which are the gold standards of marine and coastal natural resource management. And in 2013, WWF-Indonesia established JARING Nusantara (JARNUS), which aims to assist producers at the fishermen and aquaculture level in carrying out best practices for catching and breeding seafood products.
In the framework of World Ocean Day (World Ocean Day) which falls every June 8 and World Coral Triangle Day (Coral Triangle Day) on June 9, WWF-Indonesia organizes the Sustainable Seafood Festival 2014 "Not an Ordinary Fish Market", which will be held on:
