SURVEY REPORT ON PUBLIC PERCEPTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AND POLITICAL PARTY PREFERENCES
Ahead of the 2014 legislative elections, and the fact of continued environmental damage in Indonesia, a study released by WWF-Indonesia - in collaboration with LP3ES (Institute for Economic and Social Research, Education and Information) - shows that most people (95.7% of survey respondents) stated that the people's representatives who will sit in the upcoming legislative seats need to seriously address the issue of environmental damage in Indonesia.
The study titled "Survey of Public Perceptions of Environmental Issues and Political Party Preferences" was conducted in seven cities in Indonesia - namely Pekanbaru, Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Samarinda, Kupang and Sorong - with the aim of knowing the level of public awareness of environmental issues, as well as public perceptions and preferences regarding the role of political parties in natural resource management (SDA) in Indonesia.
