[OPEN LETTER] THANKS TO CHANGE.ORG AND PETITIONERS
WWF Indonesia appreciates the quick action of Change.org and the petitioners 'Stop Deception in the name of Conservation' in revising and improving the petition, so that the petition is right on target, namely to those who have the authority and can make changes.
Since around 19:20 WIB on August 6, 2018, public support for not developing and changing the function of the Komodo National Park conservation area has been addressed to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and the Komodo National Park Office in particular.
Regardless of the petition, the Komodo National Park Office has responded by signing a letter to temporarily stop the construction of tourist facilities in the Komodo National Park area which will be brought to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry for review.
WWF as a conservation organization with more than 55 years of experience working in Indonesia, will continue to prioritize sustainable natural resource management, so that humans continue to live in harmony with nature. WWF's program in Komodo National Park focuses on supporting marine protected area management, sustainable fisheries and responsible tourism. WWF also believes that the sustainability of the terrestrial ecosystem has an impact on the condition of the marine ecosystem, therefore the synergy of all stakeholders is needed.
