OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING THE COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN WWF-INDONESIA AND KLHK
Holding fast to the commitment to be a sustainable development partner, WWF-Indonesia continues to strive to renew the cooperation agreement with MoEF. However, as of December 31, 2019, we have not received the MoEF's decision letter regarding the continuation of institutional cooperation.
In response, WWF-Indonesia has prepared a one-year plan to anticipate the transition period with MoEF. The plan includes efforts to:
- Maintain the continuity of the program by ensuring a well-thought-out and well-governed transition and handover process to the designated partner;
- Regularly update donor partners on the situation of WWF-Indonesia and MoEF and its impact on supported programs, if any; and
- Continue intensive dialog with MoEF as the highest authority in the field of forestry, environment, and biodiversity.
Indonesia's biodiversity is one of the nation's main assets, and preserving it for utilization by future generations is of utmost importance to us. This is not the time to stop, instead Indonesia needs to unite hand in hand with more parties because the challenges are so big on the horizon: population growth, unsustainable economic development, and climate change.
The challenges ahead will only increase, so new strategies are needed to maintain collaboration with partners to achieve common goals. We thank you for the support and trust that has been given to WWF-Indonesia. We hope that this cooperation can continue for the continuity of conservation and sustainable development efforts in Indonesia.
