"Love and Be Proud of Kapuas Hulu by Getting to Know Kapuas Hulu from the School Bench"

Kapuas Hulu, with its diverse cultures and languages, diverse landscapes, is known internationally, protected areas that are protected by Indonesia and even recognized by the world, endemic flora/fauna in Asia with protected status, typical local food, cultural customs that are close to nature, and many other facts. All of this information and knowledge is very important for the children of Kapuas Hulu to know from time to time, so that it is not lost as civilization advances and more information develops.

Environmental education from an early age is an important step in forming a generation that cares about the surrounding nature and culture. In response to this need, the Kapuas Hulu District Education and Culture Office, with support from various parties, has successfully compiled and launched the Environmental Education (PLH) Local Content Book for grade 4 elementary school students.

The book is designed to introduce children to the environment and their role in protecting and caring for it, with an approach based on the local wisdom of the Kapuas Hulu community.

(already in paragraph 6, does it still need to be narrated separately in this section?)WWF-Indonesia's Kapuas Hulu Landscape program played an active role in driving the birth of this initiative, responding to Regent Regulation No. 9/2014 on the implementation of local content. Through a collaborative process since 2020, an EE book containing information on Kapuas Hulu's cultural and natural wealth was finally realized. This book is the first product to be compiled directly by a team of teachers who are sons and daughters of Kapuas Hulu and contains photo documentation directly sourced from the Kapuas Hulu area.

This EE book was finally successfully compiled and officially launched today, and in the future will be used in learning activities in all primary-level schools in Kapuas Hulu District. The book launch, which was held at the Kapuas Hulu Education Office Hall, was attended by 140 people from the Kapuas Hulu OPD, non-governmental organizations, all education coordinators, and representatives of primary schools in Kapuas Hulu. The teachers enthusiastically welcomed the publication of this book. At that moment, the teachers expressed their pride that the teaching materials to be delivered to students were information from the region and were also original works from Kapuas Hulu.

Project Leader of WWF-Indonesia Kapuas Hulu program, Hermas Rintik Maring, said, "The previous Perbup No. 9/2014 adopted local content from outside. This prompted the initiation of the preparation of the Environmental Education (EE) Local Content Book based on Kapuas Hulu's local wisdom. The book was formulated in 2020-2025 through the collaboration of various parties, who contributed in the form of information and documentation. It is hoped that this book will have a positive impact on education, especially environmental education."

The Vice Regent of Kapuas Hulu, Mr. Sukardi, S.M., also expressed that, "Protecting the environment and passing on local wisdom for future generations is the main purpose of this book. Appreciation to the Kapuas Hulu Education Office, as well as WWF-Indonesia, for their support in the process of preparing the local content. This book not only discusses flora, fauna, weather, local food, and climate, but also introduces conservation values and local wisdom. I invite teachers to implement it creatively to make learning more fun. Hopefully, this book will foster pride and love for Kapuas Hulu's local wisdom in the younger generation."
