INNISFREE AND WWF-INDONESIA PLANT 6000 TREES IN THE CILIWUNG RIVER CATCHMENT-RIVER AREA
Jakarta, November 8, 2018 - innisfree, a natural beauty brand from Jeju Island, South Korea together with WWF-Indonesia inaugurated a 6,000 tree planting program in the Catchment Area - Ciliwung River Flow, Cisarua, Bogor, West Java. This program is part of innisfree's global campaign, 'Green Forest' and WWF-Indonesia's 'NEWTrees' program to reforest the degraded Ciliwung River Catchment Area.
Mark Hwang, Brand General Manager, innisfree Indonesia said, "innisfree as a brand that bases its product ingredients from nature, always strives to contribute more for a better earth. Through the 6,000 tree planting program with WWF-Indonesia, we hope that the water quantity in the Catchment Area - Ciliwung River Flow will remain under control, so that Jakarta can avoid flooding or drought, and water quality is always maintained."
The planting of 6,000 trees will be carried out over a period of 1 year and maintained for the next 5 years with the help of local residents. All trees will be geotagged according to their coordinates, so they can be monitored directly through Google Earth, Yahoo Map and NEWTrees Map. Some of the tree species that will be planted include: rasamala, jackfruit, avocado, as well as several other tree species that are needed and can be economically beneficial to the residents.
"We really appreciate innisfree's concern in saving the water catchment area in the Upper Ciliwung Sub Watershed. This support will have a positive impact on the continuity of ecosystem functions, local communities and for people in Jabodetabek. NEWTrees is one of our programs that invites the private sector to care for the environment. Ciliwung River is one of the areas that needs to be considered and protected for the common interest," said Mia K. Fitri, Deputy Director of Partnership WWF-Indonesia.
The inauguration of the 6,000 tree planting program held to welcome the Indonesian Tree Planting Day, was not only attended by innisfree and WWF-Indonesia, but also attended by innisfree customers and beauty influencers.
"The involvement of our loyal customers in this program is part of innisfree's commitment to educate customers in implementing an environmentally friendly lifestyle. We will always try to involve our customers in all environmental conservation programs that we support, including tree planting programs that will continue to be held annually," added Mark.
In addition to the tree planting program held for the first time for innisfree Indonesia, innisfree also has other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs aimed at preserving nature. Among them are the 'Empty Bottle Recycling' campaign where customers are invited to return empty bottles that will be recycled, as well as the 'Eco Hankie' campaign where customers are encouraged to use handkerchiefs to minimize the use of tissue and reduce tree cutting.
