INDONESIA'S CAPITAL CITY AUTHORITY HOLDS CAMP WRAPPED IN BIOEDUCATION
Taking the moment of the 78th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia and World Orangutan Day, which is commemorated every August 19, the Authority of the Capital of the Archipelago (OIKN) held a Conservation Camp on August 18-20, 2023. The event, which took place at Bukit Bangkirai, Samboja District, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan, was supported by WWF-Indonesia and local partners.
The authority made this camp event to invite the younger generation, especially junior high school (SMP) and senior high school (SMA) students. The theme was Harmony of the Archipelago - A Forest City in Harmony with People and Nature. This event also aims to provide education and understanding of biodiversity in East Kalimantan.
It was attended by approximately 100 students from ten schools in the Sepaku, Samboja area, and several schools assisted by authoritative partners in the West Kutai area. This activity also received support from representatives of the TNI, Police, representatives of the Samboja District Government, local partners, WWF-Indonesia and accompanying teachers from participating participants.
The two-night activity had an agenda including talks with interfaith leaders, discussions on orangutan conservation, then interspersed with the agenda of watching movies together with the theme of environmentally friendly lifestyles and protection of wildlife, especially orangutans, then jungle trekking activities and as a closing series of conservation camp activities, a night of intimacy was held accompanied by a bonfire.
