HOTTEST AUGUST IN JAPAN
The month of August this year was the hottest ever in Japan. Part of the reason is the warming temperatures triggered by global warming.
According to a Kyodo News report on Monday (30/8), quoting a meteorological official, four regions in Japan experienced the hottest temperatures this August. But, according to the official, overall Japan is experiencing rising temperatures.
The official added that this warming temperature is due to the prolonged global warming trend, as well as high atmospheric pressure from the Pacific Ocean and the Asian continent.
Extreme summer weather in Japan has killed 132 people this month, and 30,000 others have been rushed to hospital with heatstroke.
In recent days, temperatures in central Tokyo and other locations in Japan have reached 37 degrees Celsius. The heat was experienced in 1946, the end of World War II. (afp/ovi)
