Indonesia is famous for the beauty and richness of its seas. Various biodiversity is stored from Sabang to Merauke. Beautiful coral reefs and millions of marine life live in Indonesian seas, and thousands of species of fish can also be found in our waters. These riches can now be recognized and learned in an interesting way through a game that can be played on Android-based devices. The exciting game is called Fishing Town.
WWF partnered with game development company Touchten to invite players to explore the beautiful waters of Wakatobi, Alor, Banda, Kei Island, Cenderawasih Bay, Arafura, Komodo Islands, Bali, Java Sea, and Maluku. Fishing Town also provides interesting and unique information about each fishing location.
Through this game, players can have the opportunity to recognize and learn about more than 100 types of fish that live in these waters such as baronang, grouper, pomfret, and barracuda. All of the fish species that can be fished in this game are actually present in these water areas.
Not only fun and knowledgeable, this game also indirectly educates the public about sustainable fisheries. Players can catch fishes using sustainable fishing techniques taught in the game. Nyoman Iswarayoga, Communication & Advocacy Director, WWF-Indonesia explained, "The message we are trying to convey is not that people should not eat fish. Eating fish is fine, but buy fish that are caught in a way that does not damage the environment." The hope of the game is to educate consumers to look for healthier products to eat. Responsible fishing practices are important to ensure that marine life remains abundant to meet the needs of future generations.
Players can also contribute to saving the underwater treasures by purchasing in-app purchase items in the form of virtual "pearls" or "gold" that can be used in the game. From every transaction made by players, an amount of 0.99 USD is donated to WWF-Indonesia to help Indonesia's marine conservation efforts.
Currently, game Fishing Town is available and can be downloaded for free on Google Play. Let's download and play this exciting fishing game while donating to marine conservation in Indonesia.
