EASTSPRING INDONESIA PARTNERS WITH WWF TO SUPPORT THE RECOVERY OF SUMATRA
Jakarta (21/01) - The disaster that struck Sumatra in November 2025 had a major impact on the environment and forests. In response to the disaster, PT Eastspring Investments Indonesia ("Eastspring Indonesia") collaborated with the World Wide Fund for Nature ("WWF Indonesia") as a form of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to implement the Eastspring Peduli Sumatra program.
CEO of Eastspring Indonesia, Sulystari in a press release in Jakarta, said the activity was part of the company's commitment to support sustainability or ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.
"Through the Eastspring Peduli Sumatra program, we would like to invite the public to participate in the humanitarian program by investing (subscription) in Eastspring Indonesia Mutual Fund between February and March 2026. From the funds received in the subscription, we will distribute a portion of the company's income to be donated to WWF Indonesia, which will be used to support recovery efforts after the devastating floods that have occurred in several areas in Sumatra, including bridge revitalization and school site clean-up, as well as ecosystem restoration and assistance to affected communities.", said Sulystari.
Rusyda Deli, Director of Partnership WWF-Indonesia, said, "Since the beginning of the disaster, we have provided a rapid response to support and ease the burden on affected communities in Bener Meriah, Central Aceh, and Bireun. To date, we have distributed around 150 tons of relief supplies to around 50 villages, covering necessities, lighting, and communication support. This initiative is part of our collective work to help communities recover after disasters. In the future, the recovery of ecosystems after disasters is an important step in order for communities to return to sustainable livelihoods. Through the Eastspring Peduli Sumatra program, we hope to continue supporting the people of Aceh in the recovery process, especially in Central Aceh, Bener Meriah, and Bireun."
"Disasters are never really over in the emergency phase. Environmental recovery and community strengthening are long-term works that require consistency and collaboration. Joint efforts like this are important so that concern does not stop at empathy, but continues into impactful participation," said Najwa Shihab.
Eastspring Indonesia hopes that this activity will be the first step in encouraging other humanitarian efforts that have a broad impact on society and inspire the financial industry to be able to move together in caring for the Sumatra Disaster.
