COMMUNITY PHOTOGRAPHY PROGRAM, PANDA CLICK! RETURNS

Kapuas Hulu (3/06)-After successfully organizing Panda Click! in 2010, WWF-Indonesia West Kalimantan program held another similar program centered in Bunut Hilir sub-district, Kapuas Hulu district, Kalimantan Program. The community photography program that has started since February 2010 now involves 26 local residents representing 7 villages namely Bunut Hilir village, Bunut Tengah village, Etibab village, Kapuas Raya village, Ujung Pandang village, Teluk Aur village, Bunut Hulu village. CLICK!
CLICK! (Communication Learning towards Innovative Change and Knowledge) seeks to bridge communication and community aspirations through photography and encourage positive changes that benefit the community and the surrounding nature. Each participant was loaned a still camera and video camera for a period of one year to capture the natural conditions as well as the social and cultural life in their neighborhoods.
Before embarking on a scavenger hunt, the participants received a brief training on the technical use of the camera and the basic science of photography.
In addition to the briefing on shooting techniques, participants also received knowledge about orangutan conservation and WWF-Indonesia programs in Bunut Hilir sub-district.
On the 3rd and 4th day, the participants of Panda CLICK! Period II were assisted by the participants of Panda CLICK! Panda CLICK! Program Period I participants practiced taking pictures. After the shooting process was completed, in the evening the photos were presented to be evaluated by the organizers. In the future, every two or three months, WWF with the help of three local facilitators from the CLICK! Period I from Teluk Aur Village will come back to Bunut Hilir to evaluate the progress of the photos obtained.
On the same occasion, an exhibition of Panda CLICK! Period I featuring 138 frames from a total of 58,181 photos. Panda Click! Period I involved 30 local communities from four villages namely Teluk Aur Village, Empangau Village, Meliau Village and Kelawik Village. The exhibition received a great response from the local community.
The exhibition received a good response from the community in Bunut Hilir sub-district, as seen from the enthusiastic number of visits every day. 563 people from Bunut Hilir sub-district and surrounding areas attended the photo exhibition.
