CELEBRATING NATIONAL WILDLIFE LOVE DAY THROUGH GAMEDAY
Every year, National Wildlife Love Day (HCPSN) is celebrated on November 5, 2021. The celebration is carried out to increase pride and efforts to conserve biodiversity in Indonesia in various ways, ranging from seminars, workshops, and discussions. The Earth Hour Indonesia and Marine Buddies communities certainly celebrated HCPSN 2021 in their own way, namely Game Day, where participants who attended were expected to know the various flora and fauna that can be found in various regions in Indonesia through games.
Conducted over the weekend on Saturday, November 6, 2021 through Zoom, the 2021 HCPSN celebration was attended by participants from various cities, ranging from Aceh to Papua. In this participatory activity, the game is divided into 3 levels, namely Quiz on Level 1, Welcome to my HCPSN Talk! on Level 2, and Guess the Picture on Level 3. In the Level 1 competition, participants had to guess the right answers from various questions related to local biodiversity. The battle in the session in Zoom's main room was quite fierce, as participants were required to remember and guess facts related to various biodiversity, such as whether it is true that the Rare Puspa is another name for the Moon Orchid to what forest products are used for weaving besides bamboo. Out of dozens of participants, only 3 participants managed to get a "saving" score. After Level 1 ended, facilitators from Medan, Tangerang, Palu, Bali, and Jayapura who are members of Earth Hour Indonesia and Marine Buddies shared their stories related to biodiversity in their respective regions.
The game continued to Level 2 with a game titled "Welcome to my HCPSN Talk!", where participants were divided into breakout rooms and presented a material about their group's biodiversity like scientists and field practitioners with facts that they had to find related to the flora and fauna, topics ranging from Sumatran Tiger, Majegau plant, Maleo bird, Red Fruit, to Mahakam Pesut. Each group successfully presented their research results in a unique way like a researcher, but the Majegau Plant group brought all HCPSN Game Day participants to the forest with its presentation accompanied by the sound of waterfalls, chirping birds, and also neat research results by providing imagination of various senses, from smell to taste.
In the last level, the game is Guess the Picture, where participants in the group have to fight against their own members. In this game, each group is provided with dozens of pictures that must be guessed with clue that has nothing to do with the flora or fauna being guessed. Even so, when participants successfully guessed the puspa and animals given, they were presented with some interesting facts related to the answer. One example is the Komodo dragon, which turns out to be the largest reptile and can only be found in Indonesia.
Through interactive and participatory activities such as this HCPSN Game Day, it is hoped that participants will be able to learn new things related to biodiversity in a fun way that will always be remembered.
