BMP MANGROVE CRAB: A GUIDE TO CATCHING AND HANDLING
Praise be to God Almighty for the completion of the preparation of the Better Management Practices (BMP) for Mangrove Crab Fisheries - with fishing gear in the form of traps and staked gill nets, 2nd Edition Catching and Handling Guidelines. The preparation of the BMP 2nd Edition has gone through several stages, namely field data collection and desk study, pilot project activities in several locations, internal review of the WWF Indonesia Foundation fisheries team and Focus Group Discussion with fisheries experts as external expert reviewers.
These BMPs are practical guidelines that can be applied in the capture of mangrove crabs in small-scale fisheries and post-capture handling. Most of the information materials were obtained from the experience of the WWF Indonesia Foundation fisheries team at the assistance location in Kei Kecil. This BMP is a living document that will continue to be refined and adjusted to developments in the field as well as suggestions and input from related parties.
Our gratitude goes to the Marine and Fisheries Service of Maluku Province, Southeast Maluku Regency, Wear Manun Joint Business Group (KUB), and Pattimura University for their assistance, cooperation, input and corrections in the preparation of this BMP. We are always open to all parties for all suggestions and constructive criticism for the sake of improvement, and we do not forget to apologize if there are errors and shortcomings in the preparation process and content of this BMP.
