48 CITIES IN INDONESIA PARTICIPATE IN EARTH HOUR 2015
Jakarta - The implementation of Earth Hour 2015 in Indonesia went smoothly, successfully and safely on Saturday (28/3). WWF-Indonesia notes that based on reports received from the Earth Hour Community, no less than citizens, businesses and governments in 48 cities have participated in celebrating Earth Hour by turning off the lights for one hour from 20:30-21:30 local time. WWF-Indonesia would like to thank and appreciate the participation of the public, the business community and the city government, especially the mayor/regent/governor who have appealed and invited their citizens to be part of Earth Hour 2015.
Turning off lights and electronic equipment that are not in use for 1 hour in celebration of Earth Hour is a voluntary action as a symbol of commitment to a more environmentally friendly lifestyle change. The decrease in electricity load during Earth Hour can be an indicator of the level of public participation, but not the only measure of the success of the implementation of Earth Hour, which this year took place in 172 countries around the world.
The indicator used in the Earth Hour Global movement is the level of public participation, especially from the number of countries, the number of cities, the business community that declares and proves to participate in the action of turning off the lights.
Now is the time to realize the #IniAksiku commitment in our daily lives as a lifestyle change step to save planet earth from the threat of climate change impacts. Earth Hour Indonesia communities in various cities are continuously campaigning for lifestyle changes in their respective cities.
In addition, the public continues to be invited to participate in expressing their commitment to become #BeliYangBaik consumers through change.org/beliyangbaik and also support 7 conservation activities (mangroves, turtles and coral reefs) of Earth Hour Indonesia Community through indokasih.com/charities/WWF.
