WWF-Indonesia tries to harmonize the two, and find the best solutions so that natural resource management can provide fair and long-term benefits for all parties. WWF-Indonesia's conservation strategies must be integrated with the wisdom and culture of indigenous peoples and local communities, respect human rights, understand social conditions, and synergize with economic development strategies. We believe that conservation efforts will not succeed if the rights, roles and contributions of communities are not recognized, and communities, both men and women, are not involved in decision-making about conservation and natural resource management.
