This August, the Panda Mobile team returned to Bandung, West Java. Panda Mobile is WWF-Indonesia's environmental education truck. Four elementary schools and one public area were visited by this six-wheeled truck. On the first day, Tuesday (11/08), the colorful truck that carries education and conservation messages visited SD Alpha Centaury, Bandung. The theme of the visit was "Life Conservation of Animals and the Environment."
The event started with storytelling by Kak Ryan and continued with three activities at the same time. The 5th & 6th graders were invited to participate in a 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) activity by making a frame from cardboard. The 3rd & 4th graders participated in cricket and snakes and ladders games. The 1st & 2nd graders watched a movie on the Panda Mobile truck. They exchanged activities so that each could experience the same activities.
The teachers monitored the activity from a distance. They considered that this was a new thing for the students. "This activity is very beneficial for grades 1-6 here. They learn many things in an exciting way. I hope the children will be able to directly apply the things they learn at home," said Sayyidati A.S, a teacher at Alpha Centaury Elementary School, Bandung.
Similar activities were also carried out by the Panda Mobile team at SD Mutiara Bunda and SD Cerdas Muthahari on Thursday (13/08) and SD BPI on Friday (14/08). At Mutiara Bunda Elementary School, besides listening to storytelling from Kak Ryan, students were invited to get to know the camera trap (camera trap). This is a special camera used by researchers in the field to observe the behavior of protected animals. The students were very enthusiastic to see how the camera trap works. Similar enthusiasm was also seen at Muthahari Smart Elementary School. Although it only consisted of one activity, namely storytelling about the environment, the message to preserve nature was still well conveyed. Meanwhile, at SD BPI, students were invited to save water through a movie screening about the journey of water.
While in the Flower City, the Panda Mobile team not only visited several elementary schools, but was also invited to attend an event at PPPPTK IPA, Bandung. The event was divided into two activities, namely a sharing session with teachers who are members of the SEAMEO Regional Center for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (QITEP) and activities with elementary school students in the Panda Mobile truck.
