LEARN ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT WITH PANDA MOBILE

In early September, Panda Mobile visited Lentera Indonesia School located in Gandaria, South Jakarta. A number of environment-themed activities were carried out last Thursday (3/9), including an introduction to the rainforest, 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) activities, and global warming. 219 students actively participated in each activity.
Before starting the activity, Panda Mobile volunteers warmed up the atmosphere with a ice breaking session filled with games, introductions of the Panda Mobile team, and a brief explanation of WWF-Indonesia and its conservation efforts. After that, the students were divided into two groups. Students in grades 1-3 did a coloring activity on a picture of a Sumatran Elephant, one of the endangered umbrella species. Students whose work was judged to be good, received a prize totebag from the Panda Mobile team.
The second group consisted of students in grades 4-6. They did the "Spaceship" activity. The students were invited to put their imagination into visual form. They were allowed to draw objects that they thought would be important to bring to the spaceship if the Earth was destroyed. Various scribbles were produced, illustrating their unlimited imagination.
Next, students took turns participating in 3R activities, educational games, and watching a movie called "Tiger Hunter". This movie-watching activity was well-liked, reflected in the solemnity of the students when listening to the movie. They were also very enthusiastic about commenting on the movie.
Teachers at Lentera Indonesia School were also excited and even participated actively throughout the series of activities. "Overall this activity is good. The students also seemed to enjoy every activity," said Genovieve A. Sabidal, a teacher at Lentera Indonesia School. Genovieve hopes that there will be more information about endangered animals in Indonesia as well as the opportunity for students to donate to WWF-Indonesia's conservation efforts through the purchase of WWF-Indonesia's merchandise on the next Panda Mobile visit.
