The 1ststJakarta Dragon Boat Festival, the first-ever dragon boat rowing event in Jakarta, took place on Saturday (20/05) at the Waterfront Baywalk Mall, Pluit, North Jakarta. WWF-Indonesia became one of the participants represented by the Pandragon A team and the Pandragon B team. Both teams won 2nd place and 3rd place in the Bowl Category for mixed participant groups (men and women).
On that occasion, WWF-Indonesia's educational truck, Panda Mobile was also present to enliven The 1stJakarta Dragon Boat Festival with various environmental education activities for children. The Panda Mobile team started the activities with an introduction by Pratama Aditya, Coordinator of Panda Mobile.
After the introduction, the children were invited to get on the truck. The rear cabin of WWF-Indonesia's educational truck can be opened into a library, movie theater, and multifunctional stage. The children were divided into groups to do various activities in parallel. They were allowed to choose two activities available at Panda Mobile on that day, namely coloring, film screening, and testing water quality in Panda Mobile's water education laboratory.
The movies screened were "The Adventure of Banyu" and "Tiger Hunter". At the end of the movie screening, the volunteers provided questions about the movie. The enthusiasm of the children to answer the questions was extraordinary. Participants who actively answered received prizes from Panda Mobile.
The water education laboratory activity at Panda Mobile was equally interesting. The participants were invited to observe water from their neighborhood through a microscope. Many participants admitted that they had never used a microscope before. They were surprised when the water they thought was clean turned out to contain a lot of bacteria. In addition to observing through a microscope, they also used litmus paper to find out the difference between acidic and alkaline water.
In the coloring activity, the children were given paper with pictures of endangered animals that are the focus of WWF-Indonesia's conservation efforts. This activity can foster children's love for these endangered animals so that they can help prevent them from extinction. The children then colored the pictures with great enthusiasm.
Some parents who brought their children to play and learn in the Panda Mobile truck admitted that they were very surprised by the presence of WWF-Indonesia's educational truck. Its size is quite large and colorful to be the main attraction at the location of the 1st stJakarta Dragon Boat Festival. And they are also happy with the various activities about the environment that take place on the Panda Mobil truck.
One of the mothers who brought her child named Ace appreciated the presence of the Panda Mobile truck. "Panda Mobile is good banget, it can be a material to give education and new things about the environment to children and even staff in companies that we foster. It's not difficult to invite it," she said.
