PANDA MOBILE WITH PELITA HARAPAN KARAWACI SCHOOL STUDENTS WATCH ANIMAL PROTECTION MOVIE
Wednesday (04/03) morning, WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile team had the opportunity to deliver conservation messages during the Soccer Carnival at Pelita Harapan School, Lippo Village, Karawaci. Unlike the usual Panda Mobile activities, this event is a showcase, where every visitor can climb into the Panda Mobile truck and do activities with the facilitators. Activities ranged from playing puzzles with animal themes, reading books in a mini library, watching movies, and discussing animals and nature conservation. All are done in WWF-Indonesia's educational truck.
Some of Panda Mobile's visitors are Kindergarten 2 (K-2) students. Together with the Panda Mobile facilitators, the K-2 students were invited to watch a short animation entitled "Jungle Forever". The movie tells the story of an orangutan and a tiger protecting themselves from poachers.
After the movie ended, participants were asked to retell the content of the show. "In the video, there were hunters who entered the forest to hunt tigers. But they were chased back by the tiger. The tiger wanted to attack, but suddenly orangutans came and helped the hunters by pelting the tiger with durian fruit in the forest. Then the hunter realized that it was not allowed to take animals in the forest. Then the hunter turns into a ranger who protects the forest," said Eegan, a K-2 student.
Although the movie initially seemed scary, it turned out to be able to bring laughter to the younger siblings thanks to the witty scenes presented. This spectacle contains the value of togetherness, cooperation, and kindness of wildlife. They will not bother humans. As long as humans do not take away the rights of animals living in the forest.
Kak Raisha, one of the Panda Mobile team, summarized the message of the movie. "As living beings, we should not hunt wildlife in the forest like in the movie we just watched," she said. Raisha also gave easy tips so that the little participants could help protect and preserve animals in their habitat, for example by saving water and paper.
After watching the movie, the activity continued with playing games, and exploring the mini library inside the education truck. At the end of the event, the Senior School students who are members of the Recycle Club made a donation to the animal friends program. The Panda Mobile team is grateful to be able to bring joy to Pelita Harapan School, Lippo Village, Karawaci that day. The activity with WWF-Indonesia is expected to provide positive benefits, and encourage participants to contribute to nature conservation efforts from an early age.
