In order to celebrate Hari Cinta Puspa dan Satwa Nasional (HCPSN), PT Nestlé Indonesia invited WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile to conduct educational activities about protecting animals and the environment last Sunday (19/11). The activity that took place at Child Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA) Baung, Kebagusan, South Jakarta aimed to introduce children about the animals in Indonesia that are almost extinct and how to preserve them. RPTRA Baung was established in collaboration with the DKI Jakarta government and PT Nestlé Indonesia in an effort to support the DKI Jakarta Provincial government's program as a child-friendly city and provide a forum for social activities for residents.
In the open space, children who live around RPTRA Baung participated in Panda Mobile activities with great joy. Sani Firmansyah and Dwina Sagitanova from the Panda Mobile team led the children to dance "Ram Sam Sam". After the atmosphere got warmer, the children were divided into several groups based on class to take part in several different activities.
In the center of the field, Panda Mobile's volunteers held a giant cranklek game with the themes of "Tiger" and "Orangutan". In between games, Isti, a Panda Mobile volunteer, explained to the children. "Does anyone know that Sumatran tigers have whiskers that serve as radar to know their surroundings?" she explained about the unique facts of tigers.
On the other side of the RPTRA, a group of children were seen getting an explanation about typical Papuan animals. Some children took turns throwing balls into white buckets containing pictures of typical Papuan animals, such as whale sharks, land kangaroos, pig-snouted turtles. and birds of paradise. The game they played was called "Explore Papua".
An equally exciting activity was the water observation which took place in the meeting hall. Using the Panda Mobile water laboratory facility, the 4th, 5th and 6th graders were introduced to water and its benefits for everyday life. "Does anyone know where water comes from?" Sani Firmansyah asked the children. After listening to some answers from the children, Dwina Sagitanova then explained about the water cycle. They also had the opportunity to look at the microbes contained in water through a microscope.
After visiting all the posts, the children rested in the center room provided by the committee. While the children rested, the Panda Mobile team prepared for the closing activity, which was watching a movie. They were so excited to watch that they moved closer to the front row so that they could see the movie clearly. They watched three movies, namely "Quartet at The Cross Road", "Tiger Hunter", and "We Are All Connected". This viewing activity is one of the children's favorite activities because they can watch various forms of animals that are on the verge of extinction.
Activities with Panda Mobile are also more lively because they are interspersed with quizzes with attractive prizes. Various questions about Panda Mobile activities that have been carried out can be answered well. "Thank you, WWF-Indonesia Panda Mobile for visiting!" they exclaimed at the end of the event.
