PANDA MOBILE TEACHES SCHOOL CHILDREN TO UTILIZE USED GOODS

On Tuesday (23/05), Panda Mobile visited SD Al-Fath in BSD, South Tangerang to conduct environmental education. Every year, for the past three years, Panda Mobile has visited the school. The theme of the event was "Observation and Nature Conservation". The teachers wanted to give a different presentation to the students through the usual activities carried out by WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile team, which provides education and information in a fun way.
The Panda Mobile team consisting of eight people provided several activities to the students, including waste recycling, water quality observation, watching movies, and environmental storytelling. The activities on that day were attended by four classes, all from grade 3. They were divided into two groups for the movie watching session on the Panda Mobile truck and the water quality observation.
During the movie watching session, the volunteers played the movies "Let's Save Water", "Renewable Energy", "How Your T-shirt Can Make a Difference", and "The World Where We Lived". All the movies explained how to conserve the environment in everyday life, whether in the use of energy, water, and waste management. At the same time, other groups observed water quality using facilities in the Panda Mobile water education laboratory, such as microscopes, litmus paper, and pH meters. They were also explained about the benefits of water and some facts about water on Earth.
An interesting fairy tale was told to the students after they participated in both activities. This time the story was titled "Cilup, Bungkus Cokelat, dan Wowo" which was performed by Kak Iyan. The fairy tale tells the story of a child who ate the chocolate given by his mother and threw away the trash (chocolate wrapper) in the forest guarded by a forest guard named Wowo. Cilup also received a negative impact due to his action of littering.
In the last session, Panda Mobile taught the students to utilize used goods through waste recycling activities. All students who participated in the event were invited to take part in the 'Recycling Used Bottles into Trash Bins' activity. They were taught to make dry bins from used plastic water bottles with a cardboard base. The bins can be used as dry waste containers. Each class made one type of bottle bin which was then decorated and used as a daily dry waste bin.
There was something that caught the attention of the Panda Mobile team that day. The students turned out to have familiarized themselves with being environmentally friendly. It is proven that they always bring their own drinking bottles and food boxes and throw garbage in its place. From the small things they do, they realize that it can have a positive impact on the environment. "Hopefully, the students will get used to being environmentally friendly in their daily lives through activities and habits that are applied both at school and at home through things like this," said Wirda, one of the 3rd grade teachers about Panda Mobile's visit to her school.
