A group of Domba Kecil kindergarten students were excited to welcome the WWF-Indonesia Mobile Panda team to their school in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta. Still in the atmosphere of the National Wildlife Day which is celebrated every November 5, the school held an activity with the theme "Animal Day" last Friday (10/11).
A total of 50 students wore paper headdresses in the shape of tigers that they had colored. With enthusiasm, the students listened to the storytelling delivered by Kak Iyan. In keeping with the theme of loving animals, Kak Iyan told a story about Cipluk, a boy who hurt animals. One day, the animals retaliated. Fortunately, Tarzan was there to help and resuscitate him. The interesting story from Kak Iyan made the children understand the importance of loving animals and protecting the environment.
After listening to the story, the participants were divided into two groups to take part in the next activities, namely watching movies and water observation. The movie "Tiger Hunters" and "Animal Living Planet" became a spectacle that broke the laughter and attracted the attention of the students. At the end of the movie, Panda Mobile volunteers asked the students questions about what animals were in the movie and introduced some types of animals that they did not know.
In a different post, the water observation post, the children were invited to see the difference between dirty and clean water through a microscope. They were amazed when they could see the shape of bacteria for the first time through a microscope.
Kristi, one of the Little Sheep Kindergarten teachers gave an opinion, "This kind of activity clearly has a positive impact, fun but weighty. The proof is that many children are quiet, not much action, either during the storytelling, watching, or water observation. New experience, new knowledge, both for teachers and students." The activity, which ended at 10.00 am, was closed with a group photo.
