Taking place at Pasir Mukti Tourism Park, Citeureup, West Java, around 12 volunteers of Panda Mobile, WWF-Indonesia's educational truck, participated in a capacity building session at the end of December 2014. Participants included Kak Ryan (facilitator of storytelling material), Kak Wanto (facilitator 1), Kak Indra (facilitator 2), and a number of WWF-Indonesia staff. The activity was made to improve the ability of volunteers as the front guard of Panda Mobile in conveying information about the efforts made by WWF-Indonesia as well as ways that students who are the segment of this educational truck activity can help WWF's work.
The activity began with a theory session on conservation science, followed by a session to watch the movie "Trashed" and discussion about the movie, games activities related to saving the environment, and environmental observation sessions around the event location. Lasting two days, the volunteers were very enthusiastic in attending each session and seemed thirsty for information about WWF's conservation work and environmental science in general.
Irza Rinaldi, Public Engagement Profilling Officer WWF-Indonesia, stated that in the activity found many very interesting things. "It turns out that volunteers have many ideas in developing Panda Mobile programs. For example, designing an activity concept from storytelling to 3R activities."
As a follow-up, the volunteers will be asked to create a team and plan activities in each school that has been scheduled to be visited by Panda Mobile. And the plan is that similar activities will be carried out periodically to enrich the knowledge and skills of these young conservation warriors.
