By: Kamelia Putri (Panda Mobile volunteer) and Natalia Trita Agnika
The Panda Mobile team visited another school to educate children about conservation. The visit was held on Thursday (25/02), at SD Global Islamic Labschool, Depok. In accordance with the Career Day activities being organized by the school, the Panda Mobile Team carried the theme "Getting to Know Professions in the Conservation Field". The students are expected to gain insight into what professions they can pursue in the field of conservation and what their role is for the preservation of nature.
Most of the students were already familiar with several professions in the field of conservation. This was seen when they mentioned several types of professions, such as forest rangers, researchers, and veterinarians when one of the teachers asked about examples of professions in the field of conservation.
After the introduction session with WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile team, students in grades 1 to 3 listened to storytelling by Kak Ryan about an orangutan trapped in a plastic bag discarded by humans in the forest. At the same time, students in grades 4 to 6 participated in a recycling activity to make paper bags from old newspapers and continued with spaceship games. The students looked very enthusiastic and orderly following the activities.
In turn, the students were invited to watch the movie "Tiger Hunter". Various educational games typical of Panda Mobile were also played during the Panda Mobile visit, including forest fire games, hurricane games, and turtle and orangutan games. Through various games played with enthusiasm, they were able to better understand the role of the profession in the field of conservation. They also promised to take part in protecting and preserving nature starting from the smallest thing, namely by not littering.
