Entering the month of Ramadan this year, Panda Mobile again conducted social services. On Wednesday (01/07) afternoon, the arrival of the Panda Mobile truck was greeted by the cheerful faces of the orphans and poor children of Yayasan Laskar Bintang located in Cikuda Village, Parung Panjang, Bogor. About 100 children consisting of PAUD, SD, and SMP students have been waiting for the arrival of Panda Mobile and the brothers and sisters from WWF-Indonesia.
The arrival of the Panda Mobile team this time is special because the environmental education program is carried out while ngabuburit. Even though they were fasting, the children of Laskar Bintang seemed eager to participate in various activities. The children who were still in PAUD were busy coloring pictures of protected animals. Some are coloring according to the original color of the animal, some are coloring according to their imagination and creativity.
On the Panda Mobile truck, students of grades 1-3 elementary school seriously watched the movie "Tiger Hunter". After watching the movie, a brother from WWF-Indonesia gave an explanation about endangered animals that need to be protected. At the same time, 4th-6th grade students and some junior high school students participated in 3R (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle) activities. They transformed old newspapers into paper bags which can be used to replace the use of plastic bags.
As iftar time approached, all the Laskar Bintang kids gathered in front of the Panda Mobile truck. They listened to a story told by Kak Ryan about the dangers of plastic waste for the environment. Laughter and shouts of joy were heard when there was a funny scene performed by Kak Ryan. Because it is still in the nuances of Ramadan, Kak Ryan also invites children to chant "Shalawat Badar".
Before we knew it, it was time to break the fast. Led by one of the older siblings from WWF-Indonesia, the younger siblings read the iftar prayer and then broke their fast with sweet tea, dates, and food brought by WWF-Indonesia's older siblings.
"Panda Mobile's iftar program with orphanage children has become a routine activity every year. Through this environmentally-themed event, WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile team wants to share happiness and also invite children to do good deeds through acts of love for the environment," explained Susilowati Lestari, Supporter Relations Program of WWF-Indonesia.
