WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile visited the Church of Santa Maria Imakulata in Kalideres, West Jakarta. As in other churches in general, every Sunday there are worship activities and Sunday school for the children of the congregation who attend. Sunday school activities are always filled with activities with different themes every week. This time, the Environmental Section of Santa Maria Imakulata Kalideres Parish organized an activity with the theme "Pets Day" and invited WWF-Indonesia Panda Mobile to attend. The activity which was held on Sunday (08/10) was attended by around 200 children.
But unfortunately this time Panda Mobile did not bring an educational truck. The content about the environment was delivered in the classroom. However, the participants were happy. As in previous visits, curiosity got the better of them when Panda Mobile volunteers arrived and prepared all the materials for the activities. On this visit, the Panda Mobile team only presented three activities, namely storytelling, watching movies, and water observation using the water laboratory facilities considering the time allotted was only about 90 minutes.
The activity began with an introduction by WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile volunteers and continued with movie watching activities for all participants in one large room. Irfan Alfian, one of the Panda Mobile volunteers, was in charge of guiding this activity. The movies that were screened varied, ranging from movies about endangered wildlife protected by WWF-Indonesia, movies about the comparison between humans and animals, and movies about the effects that humans will cause if they destroy nature. This activity lasted for 30 minutes.
Next, the participants were invited to listen to a fairy tale presented by a storyteller from WWF-Indonesia, namely Kak Ryan. This time, the theme was "Orangutans, Tigers and Poachers". The participants paid close attention and were also full of excitement. Because of the excitement, there were some children who tried to grab the doll used by kak Ryan.
"Do you know what happens if your pets are wild animals or animals that usually live in the wild, such as monkeys, jungle cats, etc.? It will destroy the balance of nature and later humans will also lose, "said Kak Ryan.
The Panda Mobile activity was closed with water observation. Some participants aged 10-15 years old participated in water observation activities together with Sani Firmansyah and Mecca. The participants were taught how to use a microscope, pH meter, and litmus paper. They also explained the dangers of water pollution for animals and humans. Some parents who attended the session also observed how the water and bacteria tests work on the monitor screen. Parents were also urged to pay more attention to the environment, especially water as the main source of life.
