PANDA MOBILE CELEBRATES KARTINI DAY WITH A CALL TO PRESERVE THE EARTH
By: Melissa (Volunteer Panda Mobile)
Kartini's Day on April 21 was celebrated by the students of Awwal Kindergarten in East Jakarta with a professional-themed fashion show. They wore a variety of costumes, from kebaya, police officer, to chef. They also celebrated Kartini Day with activities that could increase their love for the Earth. For this reason, WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile was invited to share information.
The presence of the Panda Mobile team was warmly welcomed by the students. Seeing the panda logo on the t-shirts worn by the volunteers, many of them immediately shouted, "WWF!" Some asked, "From WWF, huh?" It turned out that some of them already knew WWF from previous visits. But some other children only knew about it through its logo. In order for all children to understand about WWF, in every activity, the Panda Mobile team always introduces and shares stories about WWF and its role.< br />
After the introduction, the Panda Mobile team prepared the equipment that would be used for the game. The students began to be curious about the equipment that was prepared. A game sheet with orangutan and tiger themed cricket patterns mesmerized them. The students eagerly followed the game and patiently waited for their turn to play. Through this game, children are expected to be able to recognize orangutans and tigers as endangered animals in Indonesia.
The highlight of the event with Panda Mobile was filled by Kak Ryan who told stories about the importance of protecting the environment. Cheerful music and dialog played by hand puppets made children drift into the story. With an interesting and interactive method of delivering messages, messages about the environment are expected to be well absorbed by these children.
