In the late afternoon on Saturday (18/06), together with BEM Faculty of Economics, Gunadarma University, Depok, the Panda Mobile team took part in an environmental and animal education social service activity. The activity involved students from Madrasah Aliyah, Sukarasa. The cloudy weather did not dampen the enthusiasm of the children of Sukarasa Village, Tanjungsari, Gunung Batu, Bogor who participated in a series of Panda Mobile activities. Moreover, this is the first time Panda Mobile has come to their village.
The activity began with an introduction about WWF-Indonesia and its history to the students and members of BEM Faculty of Economics, Gunadarma University. Then, Ms. Fefe from Panda Mobile presented a storytelling about a child who loved animals so much that he managed to persuade a criminal who sold wildlife to be good and not do it anymore. Uniquely, before the storytelling, Kak Fefe invited the students to do gymnastic movements while singing. The movements imitated animal movements, for example imitating the movements of elephants, tigers and orangutans. The students seemed very happy to do these movements. Occasional laughter was heard when the movements imitated looked funny.
Next, participants were divided into four groups who took turns visiting the posts provided by Panda Mobile. Post 1 was a movie watching activity titled "Hunters and Tigers". While in Post 2, they played cranklek which indirectly provided a lot of information about orangutans and turtles. In Post 3, the students were busy coloring pictures of umbrella animals that are the focus of WWF-Indonesia's conservation work. And Post 4 was a recycling activity to make multi-purpose paper bags from used newspapers. The participants followed all the activities with order and enthusiasm.
This is the 3rd time Panda Mobile and BEM Gunadarma University have collaborated. The students involved in the activity were happy with the material provided. Sasha, one of the representatives from BEM Gunadarma University said that the activity was a good way to provide education to the community. "Apart from being a fun event, this activity is very loaded with elements of environmental and animal conservation," she said.
