PANDA MOBILE INVITES AR RAUSHAN FIKR STUDENTS TO USE ELECTRICITY AND WATER WISELY
By: Denaya Karenzi (Volunteer Panda Mobile)
There are many sources of electrical energy, from renewable to finite due to human use since ancient times. Coal and petroleum are examples of finite sources. These two sources of electricity have been decreasing in number since the increase in population on Earth, which is accompanied by an increase in people's need for electricity.
Without electricity we cannot communicate using cell phones, cannot get our work done, and will even live in the dark at night. Therefore, all levels of society must be aware of the importance of electricity and be wise in using it, including children. That is what WWF-Indonesia's Panda Mobile did to the students of KB-TK Ar Raushan Fikr, Tangerang on Wednesday (01/08). Through a short video played on the back cabin of the Panda Mobile truck, the students were also told that there are renewable sources of electrical energy, namely wind and sunlight. They were very enthusiastic when they saw the Panda Mobile truck. One by one, the children boarded the truck in an orderly manner and then watched a movie entitled "The Adventure of Banyu and Electra".
Similar to the need for electricity, humans also need water because about 70% of our body is made up of water. If the water content in us is very low, we will become dehydrated. For this reason, we must maintain the water content in our body by drinking more. However, the water that can be used by people is only a fraction of all the water on Earth. "Of the 100% water in the world, only 3% is fresh water. The rest is saltwater. Do you want to drink saltwater?" a volunteer asked after watching the video. "No way!" replied the students spontaneously.
The Panda Mobile team also instilled a sense of love for the environment, concern for animals, and awareness in making good use of the resources we have to the children through games. The students were invited to get to know the typical animals of Papua, Sumatran elephants, and the importance of water for life through various games that have been prepared by the WWF-Indonesia Panda Mobile team.
All students felt happy. Hopefully, the excitement was also followed by the emergence of concern for the preservation of nature through wise actions in the use of electricity and water.
