The Panda Mobile team was present last week on the field of SD Islam Ibnu Rusyd in South Tangerang, which on that day was the location of the "Go Green Festival". The event, initiated by Ibnu Rusyd Islamic Kindergarten, had the theme "Green Lifestyle" and was attended by a number of kindergartens around South Tangerang.
The event began with remarks from the chairman of the committee and representatives from the South Tangerang Education Office. After that, the children scrambled to get on the Panda Mobile and sat neatly at the very front to watch Kak Ryan who was ready to tell stories. After a while, parents, teachers, and children were amazed to listen to the storytelling about green lifestyle and animal introduction.
After listening to Kak Ryan tell the story, the children participated in various competitions that had been prepared by the committee. Others were allowed to enter the Panda Mobile. Many played with stuffed animals from WWF-Indonesia's collection, some also colored the picture paper. The children looked happy and enthusiastic following the activities. On the sidelines of activities for children, the event committee also provided counseling for parents on how to utilize used cooking oil into floor cleaning liquid.
The day's event showed how much the community cares about teaching green behavior to children from an early age, in addition to awareness of environmental sustainability. Simple activities such as throwing garbage in its place to creating clothes from plastic and other used materials, were carried out at the Go Green Festival. According to the organizers of the event, the day's activities aimed to instill in children a deeper sense of green lifestyle and environmental conservation so that humans can continue to utilize natural resources in addition to maintaining the survival of various animals.
