Consumers play an important role in encouraging producers to produce environmentally friendly products. For this reason, WWF-Indonesia is intensifying the #BeliYangBaik campaign. This campaign encourages the public to be more courageous in asking questions about the origin of the products they want to buy and introduces the public to products that have been certified as environmentally friendly (eco-label), such as FSC, MSC, ASC, and RSPO. In order to disseminate the #BeliYangBaik campaign message in Bandung, on Saturday (29/08) the Bumi Panda team and the Earth Hour Bandung and Cimahi Community held an activity at one of the shopping centers in Bandung.
The event was opened by the MC with an introduction to WWF-Indonesia. Then, Adrian from Earth Hour Cimahi explained about the #BeliYangBaik campaign. The purpose of this campaign is to provide knowledge to consumers that the products we choose or consume daily have an impact on environmental sustainability. "If we are not wise in using various paper products, for example, it will certainly affect the ecosystem in the forest. And later the animals in the forest will lose their home (forest)," said Adrian.
The next activity was a sharing about WWF-Indonesia's Panda Earth by Sani Firmansyah. On this occasion, Sani introduced the second educational house owned by WWF. The first one is located in London, England. "Bumi Panda, which is a mini museum, informs all visitors about WWF-Indonesia and the conservation efforts that are currently being carried out," he explained.
Next, there was an activity of recycling used T-shirts into cloth bags. In this activity, Dwi Widya Mutiara from Bumi Panda invited visitors to make cloth bags together. The purpose of recycling used T-shirts into cloth bags is to utilize used goods and reduce the use of plastic bags which cause more waste. The event was closed with a performance from the Earth Hour Band, who performed a song about the call to save energy. With this activity, Bumi Panda and the Earth Hour Community hope that people can be more concerned about choosing products that are environmentally friendly and responsible for the environment.
